How do I participate? You can choose to present a topic as a speaker; critique or engage with the speaker as a member of the student panel; or just learn from the session sitting in the audience.
Can I be a speaker?
Yes! Any fellow is welcome to give a session. The speaker would give a 15-20 minutes presentation on any well-researched topic (your passion, experience, research...) to a panel of students and external experts.
Develop your own style!
The choice of topic and the medium of expression are completely at the discretion of the speaker. It would be great to have speaker(s) come up with innovative and interactive ways of presenting – prezi, movies, games, powerpoint! The topic can range from current trends, global issues, academic papers, arts, … there are no restrictions.
How do I go about it?
First register with us (Arpitha, Chiteisri or Saumya) to schedule a session. You would be required to submit a detailed write up and a presentation 10 days prior to the session. We would be happy to help you develop and present your idea with the support of YIF team and professionals.
No. But it is expected that the participants (speakers, student panel or the audience) keep in mind some thumb rules to facilitate constructive discussions
- To allow for the speaker to speak during the presentation and put forth the question only when the thought or idea is completely articulated
- The speaker is at liberty to decide at what point in time to be questioned during the presentation
- To ensure that no two speakers are speaking simultaneously, thus when one begins the other waits for his/her turn.
Who are the externals?
These are individuals experienced in the field(s) relating to your topic. It is not necessary to invite externals. The primary impact of such experts will be to:
- Give constructive feedback for the growth of the speaker as well as the idea.
- Expose the fellows to wide range of issues that can help making them more informed.
- Aid in making the idea more concrete and applicable
So, gear up! Dive in! See you on the stage.
